My benchmate, Tielle--we are often crazed by Clinical Chemistry
I took my first quiz today--Parasitology. I survived that, but the real test will be the exams tomorrow! I am nervous and just ready for Friday to be over so I can relax. The first exams of the semester are always the worst!
Our other new and wonderful craziness is a large purchase!!
For almost as long as we have been married, Scott and I have been researching cars. It has always been a goal to buy another vehicle, and we knew we would need one once we move to the rainy PNW and the motorcycle is no longer a good second vehicle that Scott can use almost year round. So, we have been looking at various cars in our price range for at least a year, and the goal of owning a Jeep or small SUV has always seemed a little out of reach for us--at least for a few years.
Until last week!! We started looking more seriously at cars again recently since we have been crunching numbers to financially prepare for our big move in a few months. We decided that we need a car that can pull a small trailer so that we can take a Camry-full of boxes and bins as well as a trailer of furniture and possibly the motorcycle! Lo and behold in the KSL classifieds, we find our car. A black classic '86 Jeep Cherokee in fantastic condition!! We hurried to be the very first people to look at the car, and after a few loops around the neighborhood and a lengthy inspection by our mechanical friend Christian, we decided to dive in!
For me, of course, it was love at first sight. I loved the look of the older Jeep, and the idea of a manual. The body looked great inside and out, and I could picture myself cruising Salem in my Jeep, Matilda. Scott has had a life-long goal to own a Jeep someday, so he was excited but skeptical. I am so glad for his logical brain, because it keeps me from making decisions based on my gut and emotions (to be honest, my decision-making process has rarely failed me, but it is nice to have logical input when $1100 is involved).
As we have driven Ol' Matilda (Tildy? Perhaps too close to Tilly) this week, however, Scott has experienced the Jeep-love. The car needs only very minimal and minor tweaks, and it is the funnest to drive!! It feels like a safari car, or the Jeep on Indiana Jones, and it was great to take it on its first dirt road excursion on Tuesday. Definitely the perfect adventure car!! Perfect for taking the Haynie Adventurers on our big journey!
And now... the moment you have been waiting for!! Pictures of my beautiful Adventure Jeep. (Also, it has no stereo, so Waltzing Matilda has become the official song of the car. I sing it to myself as I drive...)
I used a vintage-y filter to enhance the classic beauty
What a beaut'!!
More pictures to come, I am sure, as the adventures of Cassandra and her trusty steed Matilda continue!!!!!!
