The past couple weeks have been extra busy because...the Hardwicks came to Park City!! Hooray! Our annual gathering at the Marriott in Park City is one of my favorite weeks of the year. There is great company (immediate family, grandparents, aunties, cousins), great food, hot tubbing, and more! It was so wonderful to get to visit with some of the people I don't get to see very often. Meghan came up from Tempe, my parents down from Washington, grandparents over from Orange County, and the aunties and cousins from Salt Lake City. Scott and I were lucky this year and got to spend a significant amount of time up there because our work and school days both end at 4pm.
What a blast!!
And the family fun didn't end there! The weekend started off with a BYU football game, and apparently I was able to attend the best part of the whole night--the tailgate party where we received 7 free T-shirts!! A pretty terrible loss for BYU, which made me grateful for my detached football fan status. I know of some fans who were brought to tears by the loss.
Also, this past weekend was LDS General Conference--another one of my favorite weekends! It is tradition for the Utah Haynies to spend conference weekend with Scott's cousin, Shellise Watson, and her familly. We went up to their home in Bountiful on Saturday evening. While Scott attended the Priesthood Session with the boys, Shellise and I went out for food with the kids and watched "Sense and Sensibility." We stayed up late talking when the husbands came home, and in the morning, Scott and I left to watch the morning session with our friend, Andrew Van Every, who lives in Sandy (20 min from Shellise). Oh, and he made us biscuits and gravy. Not that we needed any extra convincing to visit him. Back in Bountiful for the afternoon, we feasted on tasty teriyaki chicken and rice provided by the wonderful Baylee Haynie, watched the afternoon session, then games, pudding, pie, and goodbye!
Although we obviously had a great time with friends and family, the real highlight was being able to listen and be inspired by my religious leaders. I am always reminded and taught about things I can do to live happier and strengthen my relationships. I want to be a better person, and I am grateful for the knowledge I have of the way of living that brings such wonderful joy to my life.
Well, other than being back at school to continue plodding along against a headwind of definitions, disease states, reference ranges, and case studies, the only other news is my smashed finger.
As I was getting into my car this morning, I slammed my finger in the car door. Thank goodness it was Scott's day off!! Unfortunately for him, he awoke to a wailing wife searching in the freezer for an ice pack. He calmed me down, checked for broken bones (he says there are none--phhew!), washed me up, and got me settled on the couch with the ice pack and some ibuprofen. I did miss my morning classes though, because it took me two hours to stop the swelling and my sniffling.
And so I guess this week's adventures are off to a slam-bang start! ...Yowch.

Poor poor Cassandra! What a way to start the week! Ouch!!
